Dr. Padmakar Premchand Shinde is a senior Orthopaedic Surgeon, Professor, academician, and medical administrator with more than three decades of experience in Orthopaedic clinical practice, medical education, postgraduate training, and academic administration. He currently serves as Dean and Professor of Orthopaedics at Vedantaa Institute of Medical Sciences, Dahanu.

Dr. Shinde completed his MBBS in 1984 and subsequently pursued postgraduate training in Orthopaedics at Swasthiyog Pratishthan, Miraj, where he obtained his D.Ortho. and DNB (Orthopaedics) qualifications. He began his professional career at Government Medical College, Miraj, and has since served in several reputed medical institutions across Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

Over the course of his academic career, Dr. Shinde has held positions of increasing responsibility, including Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics. His academic and professional experience includes appointments at Dr. V. N. Pawar Medical College, SMBT Medical College, JNUIMSRC, Jaipur, GMERS Medical College, Gujarat, and Vedantaa Institute of Medical Sciences, Dahanu.

Dr. Shinde has a particular professional interest in Arthroscopy, Sports Medicine, ligament reconstruction, and reconstructive Orthopaedic surgery. His areas of expertise and academic interest include:

  • Arthroscopic surgery and sports-related injuries
  • ACL reconstruction
  • Double-bundle ACL reconstruction
  • Ligament reconstruction procedures
  • Reconstructive Orthopaedic surgery
  • Development of innovative Orthopaedic implants and instruments

He has contributed to the development of innovative surgical techniques and Orthopaedic implants and instruments, including work related to bridge buttons and ACL reconstruction techniques. His research and innovation activities have included the development of more than 30 Orthopaedic implants and instruments, with patent applications reported for selected innovations.

Dr. Shinde has been actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, clinical training, academic administration, and professional development. He has participated as faculty and invited expert at national conferences and professional forums in Orthopaedics and Arthroscopy.

His academic contributions include presentations on innovative surgical techniques, ligament reconstruction, and Arthroscopic procedures. He has also participated in live surgical demonstrations and professional academic programmes, contributing to the dissemination of contemporary Orthopaedic surgical practices.
